The Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) held its awarding ceremony for the accreditation of its National Tuberculosis Reference Laboratory (NTRL) to ISO 15189:2013 during the celebration of their 37th anniversary last 23 April 2018. DTI-PAB Undergoes APLAC Peer Evaluation

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - Philippine Accreditation Bureau (PAB) went through a rigorous peer evaluation to maintain its signatory status to the Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) of the Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (APLAC) on 05-09 February 2018. The evaluation covered the PAB's accreditation schemes for testing and calibration based on ISO/IEC 17025. PAB is also seeking extension of its MRA for its accreditation schemes on medical testing based on ISO 15189 and inspection body based on ISO/IEC 17020. View full details.

Philippine Accreditation Bureau (PAB) Grants Accreditation to Davao City Water District Calibration Laboratory

On December 13, 2017, PAB formally awarded the accreditation certificate to Davao City Water District Calibration Laboratory. Important Information for Certification Bodies regarding transition to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001

Please be informed that IAF (the global association for developing principles and practices for the conduct of conformity assessment) has passed a resolution that as of 15 March 2018, conformity assessment bodies must conduct all ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 initial, surveillance and recertification audits to the new versions - ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015. Transition Deadline of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001

The IAF and ISO have published a joint statement to note that 15 September 2017 marks one year before all organizations certified to the 2008 version of the quality management system standard ISO 9001 and the 2004 version of the environmental management system standard, 14001 need to have been re-certified to the 2015 versions of these two standards. Relevance of Accreditation to MSMEs

The Philippines’ Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are defined as enterprises having asset size of P100 million and below and comprise 99.6% of all registered business in the Philippines.  The sector employs 70% of the workforce. World Accreditation Day 2017



9 June 2017 marks World Accreditation Day as a global initiative, jointly established by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), to raise awareness of the importance of accreditation.

This year's theme focuses on delivering confidence in construction and the built environment. To help explain the use of accredited conformity assessment, the Public Sector Assurance website www.publicsectorassurance.org has been established to showcase different global examples where accreditation has been used to support construction and the built environment.
